Driver Feature: John Nguyen (#155)

Hometown: Norristown, Pennsylvania / Miami, Florida

John Nguyen is one of the founding members behind SPEC Corvette and has spent the last several years helping grow the series while competing alongside some of the fastest Corvette drivers on the West Coast.

Although he enjoyed participating in track days, it wasn't until he crewed for fellow competitor Oli Thordarson that everything changed. Experiencing a race weekend from inside the paddock sparked a passion that quickly turned into full-time competition.

For John, SPEC Corvette represents the perfect balance of affordability, speed, and close competition. It gives drivers the opportunity to race impressive Corvettes without the enormous budgets required by many other racing classes.

His favorite circuit is the legendary Big Willow at Willow Springs. Ask him why, and he'll joke, "Because I'm fast there. I'm slow everywhere else."

One of his proudest moments came in difficult wet conditions at Willow Springs, where he earned a memorable victory over Marc La Corte—an accomplishment that still brings a smile to his face.

When it comes to competition, John enjoys racing with drivers like Josh, Marc, Oli, and many others. Their speed, sportsmanship, and willingness to push one another make every race weekend an opportunity to improve.

Away from racing, John is a lifelong automotive enthusiast with a collection that includes a Ferrari 575, Ferrari 360 Challenge, 2003 Corvette Z06, a 1973 four-speed Trans Am, and a dually truck that keeps business moving during the week.

One fun fact that surprises many people is that he met his wife while salsa dancing—and yes, he occasionally wears a cowboy hat.

Looking ahead to the remainder of the season, John's immediate goal is getting the #155 repaired and back on track to continue competing with the SPEC Corvette family.
